Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to contact the relevant police force.
