Experience the Remastered Legendary Adventure: A Free Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Fans anticipating the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. An free-to-play trial experience will become available on January 7th, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Notably, any save data earned within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the main game upon its February debut.
More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Thorough Transformation
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a ground-up re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable departure from recent series remakes, like the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this reimagining adopts a unique three-dimensional art style. Locales appear to resemble intricate dioramas, with protagonists featuring a whimsical stylized appearance.
"Considering the previous port, the narrative was still notoriously extended. So we came to a conclusion that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this experience for contemporary gamers."
Major Gameplay Changes and Modernizations
Square Enix has added a host of enhancements to update the classic gameplay loop. This encompasses:
- Expedited Overworld Encounters: Taking a cue from contemporary role-playing games, weaker monsters can now be dispatched instantly on the field eliminating the need for entering a full traditional combat screen.
- Adjustable Combat Speed: Gamers have the option to accelerate combat animations to quickly power through less challenging fights.
- New Job System: A brand new job class was added for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters gain the ability to take on a secondary job, greatly enhancing strategic options.
These changes are designed to tackle one of the 2000 game's common criticisms: its daunting length. That initial main quest could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. The new version was specifically designed to enhance flow and reduce any repetition.
