Military Reserve Activated In Preparation for Nationwide Anti-Authoritarian Rallies
Conservative governors in several US regions have placed National Guard units on standby ahead of large-scale gatherings resisting Donald Trump and his agenda.
Demonstration Size and Planning
Planners of the "Anti-Monarchy" campaign declared that gatherings are planned at over 2,500 sites around the country.
According to rally coordinators, the prior Anti-Authoritarian event in June attracted over five million demonstrators protesting Trump's policy agenda.
Regional Measures
State leaders in Texas and the Old Dominion have officially deployed their regional National Guard units, though the level of defense involvement remains unknown.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott mentioned the "planned far-left associated demonstration" as rationale for calling up local forces.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin likewise ordered deployment of the commonwealth's National Guard contingent.
Ideological Responses
Rally leaders characterized the assemblies as resistance to Trump's "autocratic tendencies."
"Trump thinks his rule is absolute," organizers claim on their digital presence.
"Yet in the United States, we reject monarchs and we will not retreat against chaos, dishonesty, and brutality."
Some Republicans have labeled the rallies as "Anti-American" events.
Kansas Senator Roger Marshall allegedly commented ahead of the rallies: "We'll have to get the National Guard."
"Hopefully it'll be calm. I have reservations," he added.
Opposition Reaction
Democratic figures criticized the deployment of National Guard personnel.
Texas Democrat Gene Wu contended: "Deploying equipped soldiers to suppress peaceful protests is precisely what monarchs and tyrants do — and Greg Abbott just demonstrated he's among them."
