Netflix Chooses Spot-On Star for Bentham in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the real showdown won’t unfold until season 3, and a adored, popular member has recently been selected.

The platform declared recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. This character can use their power to morph into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, as in the source material and animated series.

This performer is joined by a number of new cast members set to bring the organization to life, featuring chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as the monarch of the fictional land.

Although Bon Clay is a major member of Baroque Works, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. With the next season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
