Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Leading Abusive Songs About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined Sheffield United only half a year after starting derogatory taunts targeting their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a deal joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds was ended by mutual consent this past summer.

Among the player's final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs about Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Now, the one-cap England player will be playing for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past History Involving Bamford and the Manager

The pair had a past before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All appears has been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder stated back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue at all with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and take it and that is part and parcel of football at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

The forward made 18 games for Leeds last season but the former Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough striker has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
