Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Concerns.
'Major setback' for England after Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.
The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson felt a problem in his left leg after the final ball in his spell at the MCG.
The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time away from the action in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".
The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.
England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.
A replacement bowler was called up as injury reinforcement.
His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.
He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.
The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat as one of just three teammates to reach double figures.
Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
However, at the end of his spell, he bowled a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt his left hamstring.
Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match following his omission the previous Test.
