The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The newest action-packed instalment that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating action and madness with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those things.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a different location and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common bold, visionary approach to the television.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
